Dumped my TV

topic posted Mon, July 17, 2006 - 12:07 PM by  Harmen
After 30 years of watching television i threw it out about a year ago.
and?
Thank you, i feel much better now. What a relief! Free at last!!
We have got to find a way to liberate more TV captives, now that we know it is possible to escape.

Heh. I wish my boyfriend dumped the tv. It's his favorite occupation- and every show every other hour is "his favorite show" or episode- he's a tv addict. It wastes time- not to mention communication between us :) It makes him lazy unmotivates him to do anything.. He's in a hurry to get home to watch tv or catch a show that he knows every day when we're out.. And he doesn't like that I talk during his shows so it's hard to come up to him.. It wastes a life- there are so many more interesting other things that you could do. So many interests that you discover you have. But on another hand he's been struggling with more serious addictions so if it keeps his mind off of all of this maybe I shouldn't complain.. Another thing that I can't really complain about is that it keeps ME from the tv because I never have a chance to get it. I just wish that tv left him more time for other things and more enthusiasm to do something/anything

          On television then:

I lived with a woman for eight years.

We split up about 4 years ago.

          I have to say:

i was not the one holding the remote control.

i grew out of interest in television.

          There were some reasonable programs.

But 99% is very very bad.

          worse then you think.

I haven't had a TV in a while, and it is rather liberating. I read books instead and spend time with you all sharing ideas on the internet. I think the IQ has definately gone up without it. Not sure what you are rating about by the end of this posting, but I will stick to the original thread.

Like i was saying on Al Gore's book (which i am about to go buy today, or this weekend I think), he is right that TV has dumbed the american populace to the point that it is more important who wins survivor and what happens with Michael Jackson than it is what is happening to the rest of the world (including our war...) and global warming. I think people with brains must get out and get back to interacting with humans again because non-interaction is killing people and their brains. Pretty soon they will all don white sneakers and follow their leader into a reality show while the planet goes to sh**.
